K¹² International Academy Student to Compete in the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships

Nikolett Albrechtovics, a student at K¹²Internatioanl Academy.

U.S. Figure Skating is the National Governing Body (NGB) for figure skating in the United States, as recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) and International Skating Union (ISU). As the NGB, we oversee the competitive pipeline for athletes to advance to competition at the national level, and eventually to represent the United States at international competitions, including the World Championships and Olympic Winter Games.

I am pleased to tell you that Nikolett recently placed 1st at the 2015 Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, in the Juvenile Girls FS event. Because Nikolett’s placement was in the top four, she earned the opportunity to compete at the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships is our national championships, which is considered the most prestigious figure skating event held annually in the United States. Here, Nikolett will compete against the other eleven athletes that finished in the top four at the Juvenile level at their respective sectional championships.

The 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships will take place January 17-25, 2015, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Travel to this event will require her to miss several days of class. On behalf of U.S. Figure Skating, we would greatly appreciate it if you would work with Nikolett and her family to excuse this absence, and to assist her in preparing in for the material that she will miss.

We understand that school absences are a challenge for athletes and for schools, and we thank you in advance for working with Nikolett to ensure she can be successful at both. The life skills that our athletes learn from participating in competitive figure skating are often the same skills that help them to excel at school and later in life.

In addition, we invite you to learn about this event by visiting http://www.northcarolina2015.com. You can follow the results and see live streaming of all events at www.icenetwork.com, or click here. Championship events will be broadcast on NBC, January 24-25, 2015.

If you have any questions about Nikolett’s participation in these national championships, please contact me at: (719)228-3455, or by e-mail at: kvogtner.

Sincerely,

Kelly Vogtner
